The Leadership of Following
|
Andrew Pass Educational Services, LLC, (Pass-Ed) an independent educational services firm specializes in professional development,
curriculum development and program evaluation. We have worked with educational organizations across the
United States. The firm is very excited to expand our professional development program by offering a workshop to help educators
acknowledge and explore new ideas that will be beneficial to them as well to their students.
Pass-Ed would welcome the opportunity to partner with your institution to bring this workshop to your community.
Why Is This Workshop Needed?
Leadership vs. Followership:
 | Amazon.com has more than 20,000 books with the word “leader” in the
title, but only 627 books with the word “follower” in their title.
 | Google "leadership camp" and you will get 332,000 hits. "Followership camp" has none.
 | Google "leadership institute" and get 7,540,000 hits. "Followership institute" has none.
| | |
But effective followers are absolutely needed! You would not want a flight attendant flying the plane,
nor would you want your nurse leading the heart surgery team. Although these are certainly critical positions
and their organization would not function without them, their positions are not leadership positions.
Objectives of This Workshop
In this workshop, participants will be exposed to key characteristics of high-quality followers and how these characteristics can
be used for a more effective learning experience.
Structure of This Workshop
Participants will consider the fact that the most effective teachers know how to follow when they see great ideas that can
benefit their students' learning. This seminar will highlight the techniques needed for educators to effectively absorb great
ideas and impliment them in the classroom
 | Remain well informed
 | Able to discern the best ideas from weaker ones
 | Capable of distinguishing between different contexts
 | Competent in reshaping good ideas so that they can work in different contexts
 | Willing to take risks and try new ideas
 | Ready to reflect in an attempt to continuously improve their practice
| | | | | |
Participants will learn from one another and develop strategies for incorporating effective
practices shared by others into their own teaching and learning communities.
Hours and Place of This Workshop
This workshop can be structured as a half-day or full-day event.
Ideally, we will need to have enough computers with internet access for
each participant’s use. We would also like access to an LCD computer projector.
