Cell Phone Lesson Plans
I have now spent nearly two hours trying to find high quality lessons in which students use cell phones to complete learning objectives. I have not found very many. I guess I'm going to have to develop some of my own. I'll put them on my Living-Textbook.

Great idea! This makes me think about the article that I read at the beginning of the summer in which school officials in New York (I think) confiscated all student cell phones! What kind of message does that send to teenagers?
Anywho... I have mostly heard of scavenger hunt type lessons (ie. find a person who speaks another language, find a persona who...). Nonetheless, I think the power of an internet-ready cell phone does have its place in the classroom.
I could see lessons involving cell phones come into play on field trips or anywhere outdoors. Perhaps, geocaching type activies or using Google maps to calculate distances. Not to mention the possibilities to report from the field via cell phones and Skype.
Just thinking out loud here... which can be dangerous!
Here is lesson plan for using Cellphone Plan data----not an exact fit, but it's relevant in today's world. Additionaly, you could create a poll about cellphone prefs.
summary:
Summary: Students create tables, sketch graphs and write equations based on the information in three cell phone plans. Students work independently to analyze the information in the graph to write a customer profile describing the ideal customer(s) for that particular plan. Opportunities are given for students in small groups and in pairs to discuss their findings, and present ideas or solutions to the class
